Nouvelle Veterinary was
founded in 2008 as a
result of clinical
research performed by
Thomas Schell, D.V.M. of
Timbercreek Veterinary
Hospital, PC. Dr. Tom
Schell is a graduate of
The Ohio State
University as well as
being board certified by
the American Board of
Veterinary Practitioners
in Equine Practice. Dr.
Schell began performing
clinical trials on
veterinary patients with
the main goal of
evaluating the impact of
various nutraceuticals
and herbs on
inflammation,
specifically related to
equine arthritis and
laminitis (founder).
Dr. Schell has also
investigated the impact
of these same
nutraceuticals and herbs
on tumor cell markers in
small animal patients in
conjunction with a human
research facility based
out of Wichita, KS. The
first equine arthritis
trial was conducted in
2007 in conjunction with
the help of the MD
Anderson Cancer Research
Center, located in
Houston, TX., with the
main goal of evaluating
the impact of various
herbs on the production
of inflammatory
mediators in the equine
joint afflicted with
arthritis. The results
of the initial trial
were encouraging and
thus led to a more
lengthy trial which was
conducted in 2008 on a
larger number of
patients. There are
many products available
to the horse owner for
treatment or management
of equine arthritis and
laminitis. Many of
these products are
prescription medications
that can lead to
potential health
consequences with long
term usage. Our goal is
to investigate natural
supplements that may
produce similar results
clinically without the
unnecessary expense or
potential health
consequences.
